Artist's Description
After a nice visit to the Marco Island Farmers Market, the artist returned home with a large bunch of vibrant sunflowers to photograph during an upcoming sunset. From the multitude of images that were photographed, the complexity of this one sunflower seemed to say so much. And thus, it was selected for the painting.
While the simplicity of a single flower can seem ordinary by itself, what Mother Nature presents us in this solo blossom is the glowing intricacies of the petals and leaves, which seem to dance and intertwine to the symphony of the setting sun. From the details of the little hairs on the leaves and stem to richness of the golden petals, and shadows hidden from the sunlight, “Sunlit” adds warmth and vibrance to any room.
About Kerri Meehan
I turned to painting after bidding farewell to my first career in marketing, sales, and public relations. Active experimentation with different mediums such as photography, jewel craft, and digital media led me to oil and watercolor painting, my current preferred mediums. In contrast to the high-energy, fast-changing world of sales and marketing, my artwork draws from the peaceful, meditative qualities of the natural world. Underpinning my work are foundations of bold contrast and bright color, yet my paintings delve deeper.
