While visiting my aunt's place in Old Naples last year, I was amazed at the sight of a single pink hibiscus bloom stretched atop its flowering tree, reaching skyward. I snapped a photo of the wide-open blossom and instantly fell in love with the optimistic composition.
The texture of the vibrant hibiscus petals appeared like crepe paper as they opened to the sky. Flecked with pollen, these petals displayed themselves cheerfully flowing through the air and seemed to dance gracefully in the breeze of the tropical warm Naples day.
I turned to painting after bidding farewell to my first career in marketing, sales, and public relations. Active experimentation with different mediums such as photography, jewel craft, and digital media led me to oil and watercolor painting, my current preferred mediums. In contrast to the high-energy, fast-changing world of sales and marketing, my artwork draws from the peaceful, meditative qualities of the natural world. Underpinning my work are foundations of bold contrast and bright color, yet my paintings delve deeper.
